Runs along the south side of the Ohau River, following one of the canals through open high-country. It's a very rough gravel and rocky road, so nothing technical but plenty of loose stone and corrugations to jolt you about.

The country out here is wide and dry, with the canal on one side and the braided river flats stretching away. Not a lot of shade, but the views open right up.

Handy for anyone poking around the canals. Just take it steady over the rougher stretches.
