Short run down to the Punakaiki River, back off the coast a bit from the pancake rocks. Handy spot to pull in, sort out some lunch, and let the kids muck about by the water.

Once you're down at the riverbed there's a bit of room to explore, and depending on the flow you can shoot across to poke around the far side. Worth keeping an eye on the river level before you commit to any crossing.

Whether the track carries on past here is still to be confirmed, so treat the far end as unknown for now.
